20 Baby Names that Will Become Overused in the Next 100 Years, isn't my list. It's an article I stumbled upon that really stood out to me because most of the names are names I love. Some are listed as already common, but I disagree. Others are so pretty and unique that I can't see how they could possibly become overused. Then again, I suppose being used often enough takes away from the uniqueness... for most people. But for me, a beautiful and unique name will rarely stop being so. And a good name could never be overused. I would like for them to replace the boring names like Jacob and Amy.
Well, without further adieu, let's go down the list. My own comments are after the hyphen.
20. Noah - Already overused and boring.
19. Brooklyn - First example of a beautiful name that could never become overused.
18. Avery - I've met one guy and one girl with this name. I love it as a female name, but not for males.
17. Chloe - It's common already, but it's a pretty name so it's okay if it becomes overused.
16. Audrey - I have a particular obsession with A names, but there's a few I greatly dislike (like Anthony and Amy), and there's a few that I'm not sure about. Audrey is one, but it's not a common name so that makes it acceptable. I've never met an Audrey.
15. Mason - One of my favorite names for boys! I've never met a Mason, and I don't think this could ever become overused.
14. Ariana - An A name that I love. Ariana Grande may be making it popular, but that's okay.
13. Sophia - I think the name - and it's sister, Sophie - is pretty, but I don't like either. I'm not sure why though. I think this name could definitely become overused, but I don't foresee that happening.
12. Jayden - I love all versions of this name - Jade, Jayda, but I agree that this name could become overused. I would like to see more of Jade or Jayda, instead.
11. Emma - It's already overused and boring.
10. Elijah - I tend not to like E names I've noticed, with the exception of Ember and Emery. I can definitely see Elijah going the way of names like Peter and John - just another run of the mill name to attach to someone when their name is unimportant.
9. Zoe - It's a lot like Chloe but less common. I've never met a Zoe and have only ever come across it as a character name in two books/series. I particularly like this name because of the rare letter Z that we don't see often in names.
8. Carter - I've never even heard of this name as a first name, so I had to think about it. I dig it. I don't see it becoming overused either.
7. Leah - A boring name that I don't like, but I don't find it to be common or expect it to become so. I think it will just pop up every now and then, but never be anything special.
6. Addison - Another adorable A name, but I've never met anyone with it. Though, I remember the character from Gray's Anatomy. I would love to see this name become more common.
5. Jackson - This name is quite popular and common as of late. I don't like it, but I don't not like it either. It's just a "meh" name. I'm okay with it until it becomes shortened to the very overused and horrible name, Jack.
4. Caden - Another name I like for a girl but not a boy. I prefer the name Cade/kade for boys. Caden is definitely a name I can see becoming as common as Brian or Ryan.
3. Ava - Pretty A name that is well known but not overly common. Yet. But I'm okay if/when it does.
2. Logan - It's already common but not overused. I love this name, and it could never be old and boring.
1. Aiden - One of my favorite male A names. I don't find that it's overly common or popular, but it is at least well known enough that no one is taken aback when they hear it. I will eventually write a character with this name. It's inevitable. (Update: Many people have come back to me and said they know several boys with this name, usually under ten years old. Maybe I just haven't been around enough little boys to meet an Aiden.)
